INFO:
Watch Monica Obniski, Curator of Decorative Arts and Design, and Hannah Amuka, Coordinator of Gallery Experiences, in this month’s art story as they explore a number of projects featured in the exhibition Sonya Clark: We Are Each Other. For over thirty years, Sonya Clark’s work has focused on the African diaspora in the United States to confront, elucidate, and reframe its history. Clark undertakes this exploration through everyday fiber materials—notably hair, flags, and found fabric—and craft practices. In Clark’s work, craft and community are intertwined, and her participatory projects promote new collective encounters across racial, gender, and socioeconomic divisions.
