Don’t wash your hair because it’ll wash away the good luck. Or cut your hair on the day as it’ll bring misfortune and do it just before. 2. The same goes for sweeping the floor, doing laundry or taking the rubbish out because it represents throwing out good fortune and luck 3. Avoid taking medicine on the day as they believe it might bring illness for the rest of the year 4. Don’t have congee - a savoury rice-based porridge like dish - because rice represents prosperity and they want plenty of it 5. Don’t use scissors or knives on the day as they represent lips quarrelling and it might bring arguments 6. Don’t give out odd numbers in red envelopes as the Chinese believe good things come in spots. 7. Also avoid anything with the number 4 in as the word 4 represents 💀 8. Don’t wear white or black as it represents mourning - my mum always encourages red Ok that’s 8 points, a lucky number in Chinese culture but there’s a lot more where that came from. Let me know if you want a part two! Wishing you all a very happy Lunar New Year and Chinese New Year! 恭喜發財,新年快樂!
